Atlassian Confluence

Atlassian Confluence

Atlassian is an Aussie company that offers Enterprise tools for documentation, tickets, project planing and so on. I use it for my own knowledge base because it’s effective, and I don’t need to host it myself.

Unlike a company I keep it simple and setup self-organizing content publishing workflows

Price

  • discounted price (they have Black Friday deals occasionally). Plugins come free for < 5 users.

Plugins (Development focus)

The most important ones are:

  • Karma - build a custom page with a design around search masks

  • Jupyter Viewer for Confluence - integrate with Jupyter Notebooks

  • GitHub Macros for Confluence - link and embed Gists etc.

  • Markdown for Confluence - use Markdown (for imports from Discourse or other tools)

  • mermaid - for scripted diagrams (can be LLM-generated9

  • Miro+ - embed private Whiteboards

Spaces

  • My organization is to segregate the entries into many spaces.

    • It greatly speeds up content organization.
